We are thin in the defensive backfield. TruJo is a good corner who has been paid like a top corner. Would he sign for $45 Mil over 4 years? That is about where the 20th ranked CB should be paid. I always thought the reason we didn't sign him was that he priced himself out of our market. If they are the same price I sign Watkins all day long if I could only sign one. Talent over needby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Next year Jimmy G. will cost over $20 Mil in salary cap and probably closer to $25 and he still won't be as good as Goff. Yes he never has had a bad season because he never had to play before. At this point Goff is more experienced and is 3 years younger. I take Goff all day long and it is a bonus that he is still on his Rookie deal.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
He can do that if you get him the ball in space. Always though running a double screen, maybe off a fake reverse, would be a great way to screw up defenses and would be fun to watch.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Gosh with the Offensive Line we are starting I hope he makes it through the game. It would be nice to see him do well and establish value. Since he is a UFA after next season we need to consider drafting a backup and this may be a good year for that. The kid from Louisville is interesting as he may be able to play a little WR and run a slash or wildcat offense for a few series and heby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
From now now the draft guys will evaluate the QB prospects in relationship to Wentz and Goff. No more Winston/Mariotta or Luck/RG3 From now on it will be Goff/Wentz the new standard. People will also remember that Zack Prescott was in the draft and if Lynch or Cook emerge it will go down as one of the great QB drafts. Maybe not the Elway/Marino/Kelly/Eason/Obrien draft but at least a newby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The best thing Fisher did to leave the Rams in good shape was to leave. What a terrible coach for today's game. Couldn't coach offense, Couldn't develop players, did not instill discipline and there was no team first approach. The best thing he did was leave.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff did great no question. He did great in the history of 2nd year quarterbacks, yes Wentz did a bit better but they both had 2 of the best years ever for 2nd year QB's. What a great QB draft. It is funny to me that even most of the so called professionals got Goff wrong coming into the year. These so called pros completely missed the fact that Goff was so very young, that he was comingby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I just don't see how the numbers are going to work on an extension. I would like it to happen but don't see it as a viable option.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The thing I love is that the 49ers will need to spend big bucks to keep Jimmy Garoppolo who is a free agent. They are going to have to make a huge investment in him and how proven is he really? Yes he has been their best QB but how comfortable would you be paying in 22-25 Mil per year? Or they are stuck with Franchising him or letting him go. I like our position much better where we hby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think there are a lot of factors regarding TA. 1. He was injured all during training camp and never got comfortable in this system. 2. McVay has a lot of weapons and one of the top offenses in football. He didn't need TA production 3. I am confident if given the time and need McVay can figure out how to get the ball to TA in space 4. I am confident that TA if he gets the ball in spacby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I have always liked Quinn and when healthy he is the best in the business. There is nobody that turns the corner like he does and he is held every down. Keeps attention away from Donald. Still 12 Mil is a lot for a guy that can't play full time and whose production has been dwindling. I don't think you can trade him with that salary. If I had a good feel for his health I might keep himby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This should be fun. Like to see what we have in Mannion, Cooper, Thomas, Reynolds, Everrett. Nervous about Offensive line. Like to see Austin catch a few screen passes and get the ball in space. Feel we haven't done a good job of putting him in position to excel. Will enjoy watching the non starting linebackers I think we have some hidden talent there. Benefits of resting guys:by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
In past years when we did not have a 1000 yard receiver it was because we didn't have the talent or the offensive effectiveness. This year we have a great offense and a great passing game and a deep WR group. The ball gets moved around and many people are involved in the success. Your whole perspective changes regarding the false measure of a 1000 yard receiver when your passing game is hummby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Vikings do seem to deserve the favorites role and are the only team the Rams let get away this year. Lets hope the Rams can win their first playoff game and get a chance to avenge one of their losses. I think McVay will have a good plan on how to beat the Vikes as the offense went to sleep in the first game.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Two penalties one sack and zero holding calls is quite an accomplishment. Paving the way towards the top offense on top of that is incredible. Pro Bowl is often based on historical performance for lineman and Stafford doesn't have the reputation that he top guards have. What he does have is awesome production which Laram has so effectively pointed out.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
In today's passing offenses is Cory Littleton similar to the big safeties that have converted to Linebacker with Barron leading the way in that trend. While he has always been a linebacker he seems to have the same qualities, especially in coverage that the converted safeties have. Undersized Linebackers with speed don't get drafted or don't get drafted high while big safeties that can tackle bby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff, Cooper and Higbee were all considered busts after their rookie years and all responded well in year 2. It is a little early to call small school prospect Everett a mistake. He is only a 2nd rounder and you can look at all the 1st round WR in last years draft that did not produce and I expect some of the will work out next year. Everett showed flashes and had some injury issues. I thby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteFlorida_Ram 2016 wasn't that bad either for not having second and third round picks 4th round Tyler Higbee 4th round Pharoh Cooper 6th round Temmarick Hemingway- was in the plans this year before his injury 6th round Mike Thomas- he's managed to stick on the roster UDFA's Cory Littleton Morgan Fox Lets not forget that Goff was in this draft too. Love Cory Littleton andby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRampage2K- By far one of the better draft classes the Rams have had. Everett has flashed some big time potential...he will only get better. Krupp- steal of the draft. Johnson- is a player!!! Reynolds -would probably be starting on most other teams...has shown great potential in a very crowded WR group. Ebukam- solid contributor with starter potential Smart- solid contributoby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Isn't the 3rd seed important? Panthers can be a big problem depending on which Cam shows up plus they have a great front 7. Would rather play Falcons or Seahawks.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Gurley on a screen is a load and he can turn them into a long gain at almost any time. But those screen plays also force the defensive line to hold back a little on the pass rush which is huge. McVay really makes the defense pay if they over commit to the run or the pass or the blitz. I used to get so frustrated with Fisher who insisted on running the ball into the a defense committed to stoppby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Johnson has been great and was a true find by Snead. I also liked what Cory Littleton did yesterday in an emergency start. He had an interception and a sack and 7 tackles. He has been a demon on special teams all year and sure looks like he can play the inside linebacker role quite well. It looks like we have better linebacker depth than I originally had thought.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It would be good to see what we have in Mannion if they decide to rest Goff. Of course I was hoping to see Goff get 30 TD and 4000 yards. It will be interesting to see what they decide to do here.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Wow what a day I get to celebrate the birth of my savior and the Rams winning the division title how awesome. Anyway thank you all for all your posts it is the best way to follow the Rams and what a great season it has been. The bible says that the first fruit of the Spirit is long suffering and I think that we have all experienced that. Now hopefully we can do some damage in the playoby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thank you for pointing that out and with Quinn it was obvious and I don't know why he only got 1 call.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
He would need to explain what he has learned and what he will do differently. After reading the Dave McGinnius interview I think they believe they have gotten the Rams to where they are now. Delusional if I ever saw it. Fisher can work with a good personnel GM Fisher can work with a good DC to and put a decent defense on the field. Fisher does not hold players accountable. Fisheby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The market will determine how much Watkins is worth. He has a injury question mark that lowers his value and his production on the field is that of a number 2 receiver. However many clubs will probably see him as a potential number 1 WR but with risks. If you look at the deal the Rams gave Robert Woods that would seem to be a good benchmark. The other factor is what does Watkins tby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff has been tremendous this year and has gotten noticeably better as the year has gone on. Heck he will make the Pro Bowl once Wentz is ruled out. We have to remember that he is still so young and in his 2nd pro offensive system. We should expect him to continue to improve as he hones his skills and he should get stronger and faster as his body matures. Many may be disappointed tby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree we have a lot in place for a long time. Will see some turnover on defense which will create some holes but for the most part this team is built to last a while.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It looks like McVay is a coaching prodigy. I have been following football and the Rams since early 60's I don't ever remember someone so young that has had such a tremendous impact on a Football team. Heck you would be hard pressed to find any coach ever that has had that impact and turned around a franchise so fast. Maybe Bill Walsh is an over reach but then again McVay is so speciaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
