Gurley on a screen is a load and he can turn them into a long gain at almost any time. But those screen plays also force the defensive line to hold back a little on the pass rush which is huge. McVay really makes the defense pay if they over commit to the run or the pass or the blitz. I used to get so frustrated with Fisher who insisted on running the ball into the a defense committed to stopping the run thank God those days are over. A few of those screens, including the 80 yarder were run right where Tenn. was blitzing. That is really a basic concept on how to address a team that is blitzing you. Of course you have to execute and Coach McVay has done a great job this year of focusing on discipline and execution and yesterday it show up with the Todd Gurley screen passes which require a special and uniquely talented RB which we just happen to have on our team.
