for whatever reason: they pass away, they are Dbags, money hungry etc.. but something like Foreigner with no original members I don't agree with.. or if the bass player is the only original guy while another version of the band with only the guitarist is on tour, as well..
Remember Autograph? They did Turn Up the Radio in the 80's.. pretty much their only hit - well, that and Blondes in Black Cars.. I've gotten to know Steve Lynch, the guitarist, who told me that he and the bass player Randy Rand had toured under the Autograph name with 3 other session dudes they hired to fill the other instrument slots.. So, Randy Rand just passed away a few months ago.. This is where it gets weird...
Steve Lynch didn't continue touring under the Autograph name.. but the three session musicians they hired claim that on his deathbed, Randy Rand gifted them the name Autograph and told them to record and tour under the Autograph name.. Well, Steve Lynch says that's total BS and has filed suit against the other 3 to cease and desist using the Autograph name.. Its pathetically ridiculous that three guys, who had NOTHING to do with the original Autograph, are now claiming they own the name and rights, even tho no legal documentation from Randy Rand giving it to them exists..
So, they will go down in flames and hopefully Steve Lynch sues them for the headache.. This sort of thing is going on all over the music business..
