Another board I'm on , one of the members yesterday posted about this tragedy and mentioned his son knew the pilot of the P 63, he also told his personal connection with the B 17g going back to touring it with his father years ago. His dad had served on a B 17 as a ball turret gunner. Today he posted info about the pilot, no name as it is still not public.
My dad , he's 99 , called me yesterday about the crash wondering if anyone on the ground was hurt. ( I was concerned when the phone rang that something was wrong with him or mom) When he mentioned watching a video of the impact / crash his voice changed when he said it was good it was over in a few second. I think I've posted my dad is combat vet B 17g pilot. His voice reminded me of the few times he's talked about men who didn't return.
