There was a Netflix series "The Haunting of Hill House" that was pretty spooky. I saw the Exorcist on network TV around 1980, so that remains the most scared I have been from a movie. Honestly I don't know how much I watched of it but it scared the #### out of me. Messed me up for a long time. And it kind of ruined the horror genre because everything seems lame in comparison. So for me its Exorcist #1 and then some other movie at #2 that is barely scary.
I thought Paranormal was spooky at times. Hereditary is supposed to be scary but I haven't seen it. I think I need the unknown or something. A slasher is just a guy with a knife. Scary enough in real life but not really watching a movie. I think I miss the point that scary movies can be fun or funny or campy...
