They edited it for TV (sort of) but they definitely took the sexually graphic stuff out... As a 12 year old, it was terrifying. But if I watch it today, I'm still spooked kind of but the scenes that weren't cut from the movie are just so graphic and uncomfortable that it takes me right out of the movie. It's shocking like Tarantino or other "shock the audience" techniques that I like OK but in the Exorcist it just ruins it for me. If I had never seen the original movie theater version, I would have said it the scariest movie I've ever seen... for me the made for TV version was scarier because of the scenes they deleted. Just kind of disappointing.
I agree with the comic take on the classics.... although Jekyll and Hyde is a fantastic movie. And I'm sure they all are in their own right... Kind of like Batman the TV show, to Batman the 80's movie to the modern Batman. Each version has its own charm and unique value but the further removed I get from them the more "charicaturish" the older ones get.
