It had to happen. It just did. With not one starter to go deep it became bull pen games and it caught up with them. Eventually those arms are going to be worn out. And they were. Yes they won a million games during the season but the pressure then compared to the playoffs -it's not close.
" thin staff that wasn’t built to compensate for the loss of ace Walker Buehler and injury-weakened Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May."
that's a quote from the Times tonight after the game. If you want to blame one person I suppose you can blame Andrew Friedman. He had a chance to get a good starter before the deadline, much like they got Max Scherer last year, they simply decided they couldn't afford it. The Dodgers couldn't afford it.??
Playoffs. Its about pitching. Always has been.
And of course the hitting was horrific for the Dodgers. When you have bases loaded with no outs and you get just one run in a possible season ending game ?. End of story. As far as the offense goes keep in mind the last ten games of the season it was absent and they were slumping and then they had a week off with no games to sharpen their edges and get out of their slump.
Well-there's always next season-hopefully.
I was hoping for a Yankee/ Dodger World Series. Instead we jut might get a Guardians vs Padres WS. I'll be watching tennis.
