I watched the DVD Commentary by John Carpenter and Debra Hill about the Production. I mean...It was almost like a High School / Film School Project....with all due respect to Carpenter and Hill. I think minimal budget makes film makers HAVE to use better creativity and and simply add Atmosphere to make a movie work. TODAY'S flicks are SO dumbed down and saturated with CGI. It's an easy out for substance. And modern Horror flicks?? Just how many times can they use the saaaaaaame jump scares with the burst of screetching sounds? A great example of why it's NOT needed...... I had this VERY discussion several months ago with my Step Son and he showed me a clip from a movie he saw 4-5 years ago. The name escapes me but it was some sort of Paranormal flick. ANYWAY, he showed me a scene of people walking down a dimly lit hallway past several doors. They passed by several rooms with some doors wide or partially opned or closed. As they passed one room, you see a ghostly figure of a lady just staring out of a window. What I LOVED was how the music did not jump or do the low grim sound as they passed that room. IT WAS CREEPY AS HELL!
