Not long ago I went to a H.S. graduation in Sacramento. It was so hot and outside they began like at about 6:30 am. It was worth it. Grandson graduated with high honors. Only reason he wasn't valedictorian was because of his aversion to homework-his "excuse" -why do I need to do it I got this stuff bagged". His dad's response: "there are consequences". Oh well he leaves for UCONN next week. Won't see him until Xmas-due to ski racing. Will be a lonely flight for my son on the flight home. I recall the day we left him at college-lots of tears on the way home.
I guess this is nothing more than life's lesson about the moments when we know they no longer are totally our kids.
