was that the military was ADAMENT about keeping things factually correct.. but the Goose cockpit incident, in reality, would never have happened.. I did a course on cockpit ejections and asked the SME (Subject Matter Expert) about it and he said they designed the cockpit canopy SPECIFICALLY to NOT do what they portrayed in the movie.. the canopy swivels on a pin at the back of the canopy.. when the canopy blows, it rotates on that pin backward and the wind would push it backward and down and (I think) lock into that position.. he said what they portrayed in the movie was impossible, due to the design and that goose is alive somewhere right now.. So, it always surprised me that the military allowed that portrayal when they could have had him be killed in a multitude of other ways that would be factually correct..
