Bilko holds all the Angels' HR records. Part of that is -as pointed out in the article-because of the great weather on the west coast and the lack of necessary travelling the seasons in the PCL were like 200 games a season. Not sure your old enough to remember but I remember watching the Hollywood Stars play the Angels in SHORTS ! Locally here in So Cal the Stars were broadcast on KTTV (Channel 11) while the Angels were KTLA (Channel 5). It was a great league
Seattle Rainers
Portland Beavers
Sacramento Solons
San Francisco Seals
Oakland Oaks
Los Angeles Angels
Hollywood Stars
San Diego Padres
Miss any ?
Interesting note: The broadcaster for the Angels-both tv and radio-was Bob Kelly who also was the radio broadcaster for the Rams when they came here in 46 and remained their radio guy for several years. I remember Kelly calling Lou Groza's (Cleveland Browns) last second FG (49 yds) to beat the Rams in the NLF Championship game-in Cleveland during a snow storm in 1950-I think. I was sitting in our Chrysler DeSota listening while my mom was negotiating a new Chevrolet at a dealership on Hoover st downtown L.A.
