And to you and all Iowa.
My family is a little down this Christmas because it will be the first time my oldest grandson won't be here... he's working at a ski resort. BUT... we did rent a cabin near his resort and will be there the day after Christmas.
I know it's not the same as being together on Christmas Day, but being together the day after Christmas at a ski resort with everyone sounds pretty good to me! My son has a chronic and severe type of colitis which landed him in the hospital for a week a couple of years ago and he's been struggling ever since. He is anemic and has a weakened immune system. COVID-19 has made him a nervous ninny but after all he's been through, I understand why. He has to give himself some kind of shot every 10 days for his condition. Anyhow, just found out yesterday that he won't be joining us tomorrow for Christmas dinner. I'll load up food in storage containers and drop it off to him on Sunday along with a small gift. So Christmas Day it'll be just me, Frank, my daughter, her boyfriend, and my grandson. My grandson has been craving two things since summer and he wrote a letter to Santa asking for them. They are both items that aren't made anymore so finding them was TOUGH but I did it. One was shipped from Germany and the other was shipped from South Korea. I wrapped them special so he'd know they're from Santa. I think the adults are more excited than Everett cause we can't wait to see his face when he opens his gifts tomorrow.
It's been a weird year again for everybody. I miss seeing people's faces. I miss kindness, and decency, and tolerance. I hope someday we as a country can return to that.
Merry Christmas everyone!
