This year I bought tickets to take my grandson on The Polar Express Train Ride at St Louis Union Station. We've never done it before and I've been wanting to go for the past few years. Haven't done it before now because he was a little young, tickets are kinda pricey and they sell out fast!! Passengers board the train per the reserved time on the tickets (it's not required but passengers are encouraged to wear pajamas) at Union Station. I think the train only travels about 5 miles because it goes to "the North Pole" (a designated area just north of The Arch grounds). There, Santa and his elves get on board and Santa goes up and down the aisles greeting children and their families and getting his pic taken with the kids. Passengers are served hot chocolate and a cookie during the trip and are entertained by waiters who come out singing and dancing like in the movie. After the train stops at "the North Pole", it returns to Union Station. The whole thing takes about an hour. Polar Express rides started Nov. 20 and extend thru Dec. 30. Our reservations are in a couple of weeks.
