A few years ago I started putting up my tree a week before Thanksgiving and I really like that schedule.
This year is different, though.
My son, my daughter, her boyfriend and her little boy all came over this morning for a birthday breakfast (my daughter's birthday is Tuesday). That's the first time we've had a family breakfast since the pandemic started. After breakfast, I thought I'd take advantage of them being here and asked them if they'd go down to the basement and bring up my tree, ornaments, lights, etc. Doing it by myself, I'd have to make about 6 trips back and forth to the basement and I wear myself out. They brought everything up in 5 minutes. So, since everything is accessible and ready for me to get started. I'm going to get started on the tree today but it usually takes me a couple of days to get it all together. Putting on the lights is a killer and they always take me forever. I'm very particular about the handling of my ornaments and the placement of certain ornaments so it's not a "family" task. My family knows it's "hands off, let Grandma do it" when it comes to decorating.
