Eliminate Covid?There's no goal of eliminating Covid. No virus is going to be eliminated because it constantly mutates (about the only one I've ever heard of that was eliminated is Small Pox). All we can do is protect ourselves to a degree. NONE of the vaccines for Flu, Pneumonia, Covid or whatever disease are 100% effective. Therefore by your rationale we'll have to wear PPS forever, and keep these draconian rules forever because the only way for you to feel safe enough is if Covid is eliminated. And, even if everyone were vaccinated, that wouldn't matter because the Vaccines aren't 100% effective and no one knows who won't be protected by it (or who the unfortunate rare ones will be who have some kind of deadly reaction to the vaccine).
This is no different from any other vaccination.
The point of vaccination is--and always has been, in every instance--curtail the virus by giving it nowhere to go.
Vaccines are not this personal thing where you as an individual get "fixed." It's also, more importantly, a community thing---as the number of vaccinated people in a population reaches a threshold number, the virus diminishes because it does not have enough targets to infect.
Same with polio, measles, mumps, diptheria, etc.
That's the entire point.
And again always has been the point with every single vaccine.
The only variation on that is a virus with too many strains that mutates too quickly, which is why we have to have new flu shots every year. But covid (so far) is not like the flu that way.
