If they don't want the vaccine let them get COVID when they get it.
Now if they're going to be so PC that they want to cut off their nose to spite their face and play the "what if they get someone else sick" game then implement a rule that you get it or you don't play in 2021.
Either way you're in a leadership position. Make the call and live with it.
I believe they have the legal authority to implement that type of rule. The league/teams are choosing not to. Thus, they can't complain when players contract Covid and it mucks things up.
It bears repeating. You don't vaccinate just for yourself. (And this is true of all vaccinations btw.) You vaccinate to increase the numbers that have immunity. You're supposed to reach a threshold percentage where the virus has too few places to go and recedes.
That can't happen unless the right percentage of the population is vaccinated. Again--this is true of all vaccines. It's how they work.
So a player, who in terms of just statistical probability is less likely to get sick than other, more vulnerable populations, might not get sick--but he can still spread it, and can still keep it circulating. This puts the more vulnerable populations at greater risk.
