I hear you. The first time I ever even heard of shingles was when I was on a study at NIH back in the 70's and there was a patient in the lupus wing who was in quarantine/isolation because she had shingles. About 20 years ago I had a co-worker who was in her 20's or 30's at the time, come down with shingles and she struggled with it for a very long time... like.. over a year. I've heard it can be very painful as well. I'm old and it's sure nothing I want to mess with.
So I high-tailed it to Walgreens and just got my 1st Shingrix dose. Even with insurance, the shot cost me almost $200 (got to pay that deductible). But it's worth it to me if it keeps me from getting shingles. I'll go back in 2 months for the second shot.
