Interesting take

April 27, 2021 11:18AM
Personally, I'm the exact opposite; I love parity and watching different matchups every year. For me, the mystery element is what makes baseball (and sports) entertaining.

I didn't mind seeing the Dodgers because they hadn't won a WS in forever. But usually I don't care to see big-market teams. I don't care if the Yankees never made the playoffs again.

Now, would I love the Royals to be in the conversation every year? Hell yes.

But if I have no dog in the fight, give me a couple of underdogs.

And younger generations just don't like baseball, period. It has nothing to do with the teams involved. At least, amongst the people I hang out with or talk to.

They don't care for the sport. It's too boring or too much down-time between action.

I played baseball all the way through high school. I also grew up listening to Royals games on the radio with my mom. Still love listening to Royals radio broadcasts. Denny Matthews is a legend.

Most younger people don't have that nostalgic affection. I would guess that baseball is a difficult sport to pick up if you never had any interest when you were younger. That's my hypothesis.
