My disbelief in UFO's does not preclude me from believing there is life somewhere else in the universe, which I do.
My problem with UFO's is simply a matter of physics. The distances to traverse the span of empty space, even from the most nearby sun systems, is just to great to overcome by any means we're aware of.... in fact the distances are so great that it's next to impossible to envision even with a vivid imagination.
My beliefs are along the same lines . But is not the distance as much as just the size of our galaxy. Not size as in distance but size as in number of starts (400 billion). I believe in the Rare Earth hypothesis, first proposed by Peter D. Ward and Donald E. Brownlee in their book "Rare Earth: Why Complex Life Is Uncommon in the Universe". (A read I recommend).
To draw an analogy it would be like me handing you a blue grain of sand and telling you there are 5 other blue grains of sand at your local beach, now go find them.
As far as UFO sittings go, the one question I have is in all these sightings they describe the object moving off at unmanageable speed yet no one ever reports hearing a sonic boom. If an object has physical mass (and is not just some blip on a radar screen) and it breaks the sound barrier, there will be a sonic boom. There is just no way around that.
