His dad is currently in ICU in critical condition.. From what I understand, they ran the generator on the backyard patio, but left the back door open, or cracked, or something and the fumes came inside.. My guess is they were running the generator outside and had extension cords plugged into it that were leading into the house through the back door, which had to be cracked to allow the extension cords in.. That's speculation on my part - its WAY too cold to leave the back door open for any other purpose..
So, two grown men made the same mistake.. I'm guessing wind blew the fumes inside the cracked door.. they didn't have a CO meter and never smelled it.. I'm hearing more and more people going through the same ordeal in Texas.. Some people have been without power since Sunday night, with temps down to -8 at night..
We've been lucky and haven't had power go down.. from wha tI understand, they were going to have "rolling blackouts" where they blackout power in specific parts of the town for 15 minutes, then turn it on and shut off other parts of town.. but - and this is Texa-wide - when they blacked out the first people, the whole system went offline and they weren't able to turn them back on because usage was above the capabilities they had to generate electricity.. and Texas has no "borrow energy from another state" plan because our elected leaders are idiots..
They just announced the governor told the electric company to go ahead and charge what they want for electricity to those who have it, because, in their opinion, we're all using too much.. which is crap.. I have the heater at 63 and never more than one light on at a time, trying to use as little as possible in hopes that other people will get theirs turned back on..
So, they can charge us a dollar a kilowatt hour if they want to now.. normally its about 7-8 cents.. Totally awesome how THEY created the energy disaster and now will become mega rich off it.. they should be arrested for causing the death of my friend and many others.. but, you know how that goes.. "never let a catastrophe go to waste.."
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
