Have a bubble system.
The logistics are way more difficult for NFL teams than the NBA, I get that. But where there is a will, there is a way. We're cutting down the teams to 14 (correct me if I'm wrong). That would cut down on the hotel booking issue. I think this is the best and safest option but the NFL seems really intransigent on this idea.
But I heard an option the other day that maybe pushing the SB to March would allow for the infections to go down after more vaccines are administered and just less people hanging out inside?
I can see the good and bad with that approach. As far as playoffs, do you start them at the end of Februrary? Beginning of March? Maybe push the SB back to the end of March or early April?
But man, drawing out a season that long, even with a couple months of hiatus has to affect the players. I mean, what do you do for the next season? The draft, spring training, and all the rest. Those events would be bang-bang-bang. And it would actually put more of a hurt on the teams in the playoffs, especially the ones that advance deeper.
Humans like routines (well, most do), and that's asking an awful lot of the players. But public health has to be paramount. The NBA can do a bubble, so can the NFL playoff teams.
