It’s being rumoured that Lucasfilm wants Sebastian Stan to play Luke Skywalker in an upcoming season of The Mandalorian. However, according to Daniel Richtman’s sources, they’ll only cast him in the role if they get Mark Hamill’s blessing.
This comes after fans have been campaigning for Lucasfilm to cast Sebastian Stan as Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian Season 3 or beyond. People really like the idea of Stan playing the role.
It’s been said for quite some time now that Stan looks a lot like a young Luke Skywalker. There were rumours that Disney and Lucasfilm might opt to de-age Mark Hamill as Luke in a future season of The Mandalorian.
However, we’re now hearing that they might actually employ Sebastian Stan to play the role instead, which would mean they might be able to do a bit more with the character moving forward. They’ve recast Han Solo. Why not recast Luke Skywalker?
Here’s what Daniel Richtman had to say about Lucasfilm wanting Sebastian Stan to play Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian:
Lucasfilm changed their minds. Instead of de-ageing Mark Hamill they decided with Hamill’s approval to cast Sebastian Stan in the role of young Luke for future projects. It sounds interesting to me that Lucasfilm would go to Mark Hamill and ask him if he’s ok with him to have Stan play Luke in The Mandalorian. He’s been very vocal in the past about liking the idea of Stan playing the role, so I think he’d be OK with it.
