That's just plain ole' odd. BTW... remember to leave room at the bottom of this thread for all the Ramgator anti-golf puns and smears.
Fact is... as 'dull' as golf is considered, especially on TV, the truth is that Golf has provided me with some of the biggest thrills in sports. No doubt you have to have played the game, more than casually, to appreciate it - - but even then I've known lots of avid golfers who don't like watching golf on TV. I do...not all the tournaments but certainly all the Majors.
I suppose it began with the great Palmer vs Nicklaus battles... but there were many golfers back then that I loved watching play. I can't say I've ever had a single favorite in the sport... but I have cheered for all I was worth for various golfers over the years... depending on circumstances.
As far as the Master's itself I think my biggest thrill was Tom Watson winning in '77. In '79 loved rooting for Fuzzy, always a favorite of mine.
My biggest disappointment was on a motorcycle ride around the USA... I was just a few miles from Augusta, (I just wanted to see the course), when turned away due to a hurricane.
One of my favorite "What would you rather" questions is what would you rather win.. the SB? WS? NBA Championship? Wimbledon? The World Cup? And I'm not sure that winning the Master's wouldn't be my choice. Or perhaps the British Open on St. Andrews. - JamesJM
