Not sure anything beats golf. At that last gig we played one of the guys in my band and I were part of a group, (about 8 regulars), who met AT LEAST once a week to play golf.... sometimes 2, 3, hell even 7 times. And we did this for more years than I can count. He and I got to reminiscing.
We weren't a minute into the 'old stories' until we were in tears of laughter. The story when we were playing "Skins", (Skins is a game where there is a pot for each hole, to win it you have to beat ALL the others golfers in the group to win, if no winner the pot carries over to the next hole).... we had finished 18 without a winner and were starting a second 18 to get a winner and one of the guys stuck a 180yd approach shot about a foot and a half from the pin.... surely he had won, and the pot was huge. What I could I do? As he was about to putt I mooned him. He had to step back and regroup... but to no avail, he missed the 'gimme'.
I ended up winning the entire pot on the next hole. Or the time Pete, (casual golfer, not in our group but a friend), got a little tipsy during a tournament and at the watering hole, (tub filled with beer out on the course), he lost control of his cart and ran over me and 2 other golfers... I know, doesn't sound funny, guess you had to be there.
Yup, I'd have to say for group camaraderie Golf is king. - JamesJM
