but sharks and killer whales and other predatory marine animals will bite their victim's tails off, so that they cannot swim away - then they are easy prey.. with both cats having their rear legs damaged, that, to me, sounds like a predatory strike so they couldn't run or climb away.. I could easily be wrong, but that's what occurred to me.. Best of luck with this kitty cat.. so sorry to hear about that..
