but in my experience coyotes will take their prey away and eat them without leaving much, if anything, Much like a dog will take a bone away to someplace safe and then chew on it. Most people that live in areas where coyotes frequent will see remains and assume the culprit is a coyote. More often than not its a bird of prey that doesn't care if anyone is near and will generally leave parts of the victim it doesn't want.
