Very rare, (actually it's a first), situation for me tonight. Since it's a local gig, just friends, a long time friend of mine who also plays the drums will be sitting in with us... meaning.... for the first time since the 60's I will be coming out from behind my drums and stepping to the front of the stage to the lead vocalist mic. I may lose a lot of friends this evening.
It won't happen all that often, I don't think, because during our practice Wednesday we discovered that our friend the 'backup drummer' may not be ready for the "Big Time".
It will depend on how drunk the crowd gets, and how early they get drunk. OR, perhaps, how drunk we get.
Early setup tonight... like 6 hours before we play... this because we have to follow some virus guidelines.
My band was all excited on Wednesday to inform me that I'm going to start the show... a long drum intro into "I Fought The Law"... the Brian Setzer version. They were so proud of themselves letting me know that.... but slight problem. 1... I despise drum solos and 2. I despise the song "I Fought The Law". Can I get any MORE cantankerous?
