Her response is "he is a smarter person than I am". She understands the theory behind calculus but when she got to real variables she decided she needed to go into another field. So she ended up a teacher and finally a Superintendent of Schools in Marin County. Not too bad. Those people (engineers) that understand these theories are the kind that put people on the moon. She was a part of that but only a small part-working on the thruster rockets on the Apollo lunar landing module (LEM). And always on slide rules.
