actually... it was really poorly made... couple good acting performances but mostly very poor acting. Very simplistic story with huge gaping holes in the plot.
I totally loved the movie.
Why? I watched it with my 10yr grandson and it lit a fire under him. The flame burned so bright I was consumed by it as well... and for the last couple of days, (after having seen the movie), we have formed a team researching and exploring the mysteries the movie kindled in my grandson's vivid imagination.
The movie is called "Legend of 5 Mile Cave"... don't for a second think I'm recommending it... you'll hate it, (most likely). Short synopsis:
A boy in 1929 is very into the pulp fiction novels of those days... gunfighters in the old west, bank and stage coach robberies, etc. One day legend enters his life.. and it all becomes real.
This particular legend, in the movie, deals with 'buried treasure'. Now I should explain.. when it comes to 'buried treasure' I'm as big a kid as anyone.... LOVE those old tales... like the Lost Dutchman's Mine. I've read up on nearly all the famous stories of buried treasure... all based to a 'degree' on truth but none, to my knowledge, verified. I wrote here on the Pub that one of the most famous legends of buried treasure, here in California anyway, is located precisely where my ranch is located.
Soooo.. Elijah's eyes began to gleam. I told him a few tales I knew of by researching them over the years and he was struck by gold fever. And not 'just' the gold, but also the 'adventure' of it all.
We're been having a great time... thanks to a very poorly made, produced, directed, movie that probably got less than 5 stars (I didn't check) - JamesJM
