We call that valley talk down here-supposedly San Fernando Valley is where the term originated. And more often than not the word is used by girls -"valley girls" as opposed to boys. But kids today seem to have their own language. A few years back my grandson-14 at the time-struck a weird pose while on a podium for ski racing. I asked him what the heck was that and his reply was:" grandpa this is just dope". I looked it up and somehow it means good or excellence or whatever and originated in the narcotics trade.
