Haven't been playing my new Cajon as much as I should... BUT... I have been playing it. Every night I'll play a tune or two before retiring for the night. Damn thing is FUN. However...

I have found that playing it just makes me want to set up my electronics, which then makes me want to set up my acoustics. So I end up being frustrated.

The Cajon, to me anyway, does NOT work for every genre of music... BUT... it does for what is to me a surprising number of genre! As you can easily surmise it's fantastic for anything Latin, or African... quite a few pop songs... not so many rock songs but still many. So I've been asking myself -

If I had too could I play a gig using only the Cajon? And the answer is: Yes, I could do that... it WOULD work... obviously it would not be the best for many songs BUT it probably would suffice. - JamesJM
