While I, in part, agree with you. . . that would mean wearing them 24-7, since you don't know what contaminated surfaces you've touched . . . even at home.
From what I've read, and from you've said. . . it's more about keeping the spray contained by anyone with the virus or exposed to the virus rather than blocking it from entering another ;person's system. The recommendation from the CDC is that they should be worn in public places for that reason. When not in a public place the recommendations are to thoroughly wash your hands and cleanse surfaces so then it won't matter if you touch your face or not. . . but it would still be better not to.
