Note how one significant danger is not necessarily related to the direct mortality rate. It is the overburdened health system that isn't prepared for an immediate influx of patients in the hundreds of thousands. That means that others with serious needs for medical treatment-unrelated to COVID-19 will die. While these deaths will not be part of the COVID-19 "numbers" they will still be a direct result of the virus.
