I manage two Airbnb’s with my side business. One of them in the heart of capitol hill had 3 cancellations today. So the entire rest of this month is open. Ouch!!

And DC is not a hotspot right now. Everything is open including the museums

People are acting foolishly out of sheer panic over a flu strain not really unlike those we deal with every single year. SMH...

Here's how I look at things...

Even under the best of circumstances, most governments (federal, state, local) of any country are unprepared for a pandemic disease. The problem is only made more complicated when government leaders (regardless of country) are not viewed as being credible for any variety of reasons. So, what is the public to do?

Well, I choose to follow the money.

Apple, Google, Live Nation Entertainment, the NBA, MLB, and the NCAA...these are all FOR PROFIT organizations that only care about "the bottom line." They typically enlist ALL SOURCES of information (including respected scientists) to determine the best course of action to protect their financial interests. So, it's not lost on me to see Live Nation cancelling music tours worldwide at the same time a government politician is saying, "Move along...nothing to see here."

What would be the reason for Live Nation, the NBA, or Google to forego tens of millions of dollars by cancelling a few months of work (and letting competitors get the upper hand on them), if they didn't have any information indicating that continuing on as though this was just a "media creation" or "hoax" might eventually cost them hundreds of millions of dollars (or more)?

I suspect that they want to keep their workforce, players, and fans safe and employed for the long term so that they can continue to purchase their goods and services.

With all that said...I've no idea what the "run" on toilet paper is all about.
