is it time to separate out, create a new league, for the 'professional high school sports teams'? Yeah... I know, where do draw the line and define professional? Not a simple task. Also... the word 'professional' I'm using just to describe the teams that basically 'draft'.. it's not technically correct, I don't think.. pretty sure none of the players are 'paid' other than scholarships that is.
As it is, however... in football and basketball anyway... perhaps the same in other sports, I don't know... the "Nationally Ranked Teams" are nearly all basically 'professional', (using the word professional in my redefined definition). Zero chance of a "Hoosiers" story occurring today, in football or basketball anyway... again, not sure about the other sports.
Some current 'sports' notables are currently discussing this topic. The topic has just begun so i don't know which direction it will take, if any... only the question has been raised at this point.
But again.. the idea... another league for the HS's that draft from across the nation, separate from what we all grew up with and knew as "High Schools". - JamesJM
