Went back for a visit 2 years ago. It's run down and is THE most dangerous city in Arkansas. To be honest, when I got there, I HAAAAAAAATED IT!! BUT....I really grew to love the place. The people were friendly. I loved the small town feel. Eaker AFB was a fine base. I simply had a very positive experience there. I was there from 20 May 1986 - 3 Feb 1990. By the way....Used to drive through Manila all the time, on the way to and from Jonesboro or Spring River. I remember the light blue or green water tower.
