I am willing to bet there is some connection with kids being stuck inside with the hostilities (school shootings / violence etc etc) we see today. Kids NEED to get outside and run. Lots of pent up energy and hormonal stuff. I recall being a kid and a good sandlot game of anything was a helluva stress relief. My Wife's two boys were playing a video game 2 years ago and were getting PISSED at each other. I MEAN PISSED! I said..."That's it!! Let's get outside NOW!" LOLOL I had them do the "Oklahoma" football drill for about 15 minutes non stop. They were cool as cucumbers the rest of the week towards each other. I'm not saying every kid is gonna go on a shooting spree if he does not get outside but I'd bet my house there are STRONG ties to mental health with it.
