I saw him in concert... Reno, Nevada. One of the best concerts I've ever seen... in my top 10. I've mentioned that before but here's a tidbit about that concert I did not mention...
Fats was one of my Dad's all time favorites... so I tipped the Maitre D quite handsomely and we sat at a table against the front of the stage. Now sure, it was GREAT to be that close... but what was best for me was that I could hear his piano WITHOUT relying on the electronics... the speakers. I'm NOT knocking electronics here.... I use them, just saying that for Fats the 'live' sound made it even better.
