The one you see for most of the movie, and then another version they built that was submersible called The Orca 2..
At least back then, Maritime law stated you couldn't purposely sink a boat, so in order to make the Orca sink for the movie, they had to construct a fake Orca that they could sink, over and over for takes.. It wasn't a full-fledged boat - it just looked like one..
So, after the movie was released, the real Orca was owned by Universal Studios that had it sitting on a back lot somewhere near the Jaws ride. Spielberg would actually sneak in and just sit in the boat reminiscing about shooting the movie and the effect it had on his career.. One night he snuck in and the boat was gone - it had been chopped into pieces - another legend has it the movie company tried to move it and it cracked in half.. Whatever happened, it was gone forever..
The Orca 2 was purchased by Lynn and Susan Murphy, who were in charge of all the maritime coordination and stuff.. They also purchased the barrels and whatever else that Universal didn't wanna move back home.. The Orca 2 sat by their property in Martha's Vineyard for years - while people slowly started stealing bits and pieces off it for souvenirs.. I bought a barrel and a nice chunk of wood from the Orca 2 directly from Susan Murphy several years ago.. I have another chunk of wood from the main red deck of Orca 2 that came with a book called Jaws: memories of Martha's Vineyard.. its so cool to know Robert Shaw got munched on that piece of wood lol..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
