Mauie was transferred to the DFW Beagle Buddies rescue from another rescue organization in Dallas.. I guess she was surrendered to that shelter, who figured she'd be better off at the DFW Beagle shelter.. So, according to the DFW Beagle manager, the original rescue was supposed to check for a microchip, and then if she didn't have one, provide her with one..

She was only at the original shelter for 4 days, then transferred to DFW Beagle Buddies, who assumed she had a chip from the original owner or the first shelter, but didn't check.. They should have, considering DFW Beagle Buddies provided her with a full checkup and her spay surgery.. SOMEBODY should have checked for a chip, but didn't.. DFW Beagle Buddies also got her rabies vaccinations, but forgot to send the tag to us - it should be in the mail tomorrow.. I think they are, perhaps, a little absent-minded.. lol

So, we'll get her checked tomorrow.. DFW Beagle Buddies has offered to pay for the chip if she doesn't have one, but they, like most rescue shelters, don't have much money, so I told her we'd take care of it and to think of it like a donation.. I did, however, not only pay the $200 adoption fee, but donated an additional $200 to the shelter at the same time, so I'm trying to do my part..
