The rescue emailed me that she was available, after being returned because the dog was afraid of their daughter.. They asked if I was still interested and I replied yes and for the foster parents to contact me.. I replied yes because I didn't know, for sure, if we were gonna get Mauie, or if Mauie was pyscho or if she'd work..
So, the foster "mom" left a non-so-happy message on my machine to call her back.. I called her at 4:30pm and tell her I'm returning her call and she VERY rudely says, "I don't have much time. I'm in the middle of MY dinner".. So, I apologized, because 4:30pm is clearly in the dinner hour (sarcasm intended) and asked her to call me back when it was convenient.. At that point, considering she was the twit who adopted the dog out from under us to begin with, I figured she would be extremely difficult to work with and might pull some crap like having us drive 5 hours to Tulsa just to tell us to get bent.. She did call back about an hour later, but I didn't answer - I was pissed and gone outside to do yard work so I'd miss her call..
Now, I can't remember if I've mentioned all this.. We LOVED that dog.. if her description they said she wasn't a good leash walker and would "alligator roll" when you tried to walk her on a leash.. So, we decided we'd name her Allie, since she alligator rolled.. She had been on TV during a news day segment and I found the clip and we watched it 100 times.. We loved that dog and were sitting waiting by the phone for two days with the car gassed up and a pet friendly hotel booked in Tulsa.. So, to have her adopted from under us, and then to have to walk away because the foster "mom" was a total b*tch really stung.. and still stings.. I would probably go get her right now, but I couldn't talk my wife into doing 3 Beagles..
If we DO get 3 Beagles, the 3rd will be Abby in New Orleans, but she is very, very sick due to heartworms (they did treatment, but fragments of heartworms are clogging her heart and lungs and her heart is now enlarged) and the foster mom and her vet and our vet don't think she has much time left.. We both decided it would be best for her to stay put with her family in her home if she only has a few months.. But, if she stabilizes and gets stronger, we'll go get her in a heartbeat because she deserves to be spoiled plum rotten.. Sorry - I'm rambling..
