We filled out an extremely in depth application for a particular dog.. they called all our references and our vet etc.. I sent photos in of our privacy fenced backyard and passed with flying colors.. we were approved to adopt her and the foster was supposed to call us so we could come get her today.. So, they never called.. So, I emailed the shelter and they apologized and said somebody made an appointment to meet the dog to adopt her two weeks ago and nobody there knew.. Horsesh*t.. We had to go through all of that and then they claim nobody knew somebody else did it two weeks ago?
They said they would let us know Monday if it fell through.. I happen to know, from trolling their facebook page, that they have an adoption event tomorrow and a friend of the shelter posted Wednesday on a pic of the dog we were getting that she wanted to meet our dog - this was after we were approved to adopt her.. I politely left a post that we were approved to adopt her and then she said she called and was told the dog was being adopted - she and the shelter then made plans, through posts on our dog's photo, to meet at the event tomorrow.. So, I KNOW they are taking our dog to the adoption event where the friend of the shelter will be allowed to adopt her.. and if she doesn't adopt her, they'll call us Monday..
We've been dealing with shelters and rescues quite a bit the last few weeks and I can tell you, without hesitation, that they are shady, at best.. The one in Houston didn't tell us the dog we drove to get was dog aggressive and they admitted to us they knew, but didn't tell us, the one in New ORleans didn't tell us their dog had an enlarged heart and had to be on meds her whole life that would wreck her kidneys within months or a couple of years, another one in Arkansas didn't return our calls for a week and then adopted out the dog we tried all week to put a hold on.. now this mess...
I kind of saw this coming and put in another application for another dog in Georgia.. We'll see how this works out, but we're tired of getting our hearts ripped out..
