sometimes I think countries-especially poorer nations get a bad rap on medical care. My best friend's wife had her appendix burst while on a boat off of Guadalupe Island (Pacific Coast of Mexico). By the time they reached the closest mainland hospital sepsis had spread throughout her body beginning to cause sever organ failures. Her Mexican surgeon removed her appendix, and did a wonderful job of cleaning out her system-which took several days. When she returned to the states her personal physician said the physician had to have been very skilled and did a remarkable job and saved her life. Her own insurance paid the surgeon and hospital bills which were much less than what it would have cost here. Her surgical scar is very minimal. So I guess there is that anecdote.
