Avoid 45 derringers...after u pull the trigger, their too hard to find...lol...1911 colt 45, lots of knock down power...most gun ranges will let u rent to try out. If for home defense, sst is right. Shotgun works the best. Aim is not that important and ur less likely to shoot your next door neighbor.....go rams
