It's training for the receivers, TE's, WR's, RB's, and the QB's. On D it's the DB's and LB's. It's not tackle, but it gets rough, and some tackles are made.

Two hand touch ends the play. Each team starts on the 50 and just like in a game it's 4 downs but it's 15 yds instead of 10 for a 1st down.

There is a clock.. the QB has, I think it's 3.5 seconds to release the ball or it's ruled a sack. The total game time is a running clock, 30 minutes. On the snap, (a non player facing the QB and tossing it to him), the clock is started and a buzzer sounds at 3.5 seconds. (might be 4 but I don't think so)

It all began as 'training' but it quickly became competitive. Now it's played in tournaments and attendance is not like an actual game but not far behind. It's taken quite seriously, as much as games during season are.

I believe it's all over Ca. now. Our biggest tournament used to take place in Morro Bay, Ca. On the coast. It was a 3 day tournament. The players camp out on the beach. BBQ their meals... they loved it.

There is also, simultaneously, a Lineman competition but separate from the passing league. they lift weight, do things like pick up and flip large tractor tires a certain distance, and many other events. - JamesJM
