I have baby feet. Nary a callous or even a tiny rough patch. I can't even walk on carpet barefoot.. kills me. Outside? I'd sooner be waterboarded.
Actually after posting that, and browsing some 'drummer shoes', I remember I just bought a pair of shoes that might work. They're 'joke' shoes... lemme' explain.
My 2nd oldest grandson is into shoes... obsessive about them actually. He's got like 15 pair of Jordan's. If the shoes aren't currently in fashion, and cool, he won't wear them.
SOOOOO... as papa's do, my job in this life is to make him shake his head in disbelief at my shoe attire. THUS... I bought the pair of shoes you see at the end of this reply. (still can't figure out how to put photo's in the body of a message). He hasn't seen them yet... my timing must be right... I won't wear them until I know he's among friends so they can all blow coke out of the noses in hysterical laughter.
Funny thing is, it's a joke but I kind of like them.
As for stage attire.... I have to have 'grip' on any shoes I wear while drumming. Odd that, because I think most drummers like 'slip'. My good friend, drummer, who I grew up with, (passed away a couple of years ago), had to wear dress shoes with the slipperiest soles possible. I don't know how he could do it.
I have some low top hiking shoes, Merrel's, that I like... but they're nearly worn out. I sometimes wear a pair of Vasque low top cross-country shoes... also very good. I cannot wear hightops much less boots. No ankle movement.
I can't, (or should not), wear sweat pants while playing but I wish I could. I'm looking for comfort and good stretch in all drumming attire. I usually wear stretch jeans and an over-sized shirt. I play with a hat, usually, but it's vanity.. I don't really like wearing a hat when I'm playing. I just look so damn cool in one.
