I use Apple products... and for all intents and purposes the Disk format is dead. It's all 'Cloud'.. at least as far as anything 'new'. The 'ability' to create DVD's, CD's, still exists but support for the format is fading fast.
I'm assuming that for Windows users the format is still active... and even though I'm sure they'll be phasing it out eventually they'll continue to support the format far longer than Apple will.
Which brings up: Two friends recently requested a "Blu-Ray" disk of some home video they took. I wasn't set up for Blu-Ray... but bought a Blu-Ray burner, (it was very cheap), and am now burning their Blu-Ray disks. It occurred to me... since "Disks" are on their way out... does that make Blu-Ray the shortest lived format of all time? To my knowledge it never really caught on.. but I could be wrong about that. - JamesJM
