Movies that move you to tears

June 11, 2017 12:43PM
I have a few but the one that gets me every time... is Saving Private Ryan. The end of the movie, where the dying Captain Miller tells Private Ryan to "earn this" and then it shows James Ryan as an old man, falling to his knees at the grave of Captain Miller in Normandy saying:

My family is with me today. They wanted to come with me. To be honest with you I wasn't sure how I'd feel coming back here. Every day I think about what you said to me that day on the bridge. And I've tried to live my life the best I could. I hope that was enough. I hope that at least in your eyes I've earned what all of you have done for me.

Ryan stands up, turns to his wife with tears in his eyes and says, "Tell me I've led a good life. Tell me I'm a good man". Ryan wants confirmation that he lived up to the sacrifice of those who died for him.

I cry like a baby every time I watch this last scene. Just thinking about the horrors of war and the tremendous sacrifice of those brave Army Rangers to save HIS life... while losing their own. You can almost see the weight of the guilt Ryan has felt all these years on his stooping shoulders.

Are there movies that have specific scenes or lines that just "get you right here", move you to tears or at least leave a big lump in your throat?.
