I would never pay $1,000 for concert tickets no matter who was performing. No, not for my grandson and not even to see one of my favorite artists. That's just more money than I'm willing to spend. I was just trying to make a point to my grandson as to why I was saying NO.
Frank and I are, however, going to see Brian Culbertson in August. It's a 2-day jazzfest kinda thing but Culbertson doesn't perform till day 2 along with Eric Marienthal and Mindi Abair. I really just wanted to buy tickets for day 2 only but that wasn't an option. You buy for both days or not at all. Since we have no interest in Gregory Porter, the main performer on day 1, we will skip day 1 and stay home. The tickets were almost $400 and it was hard to cough up that much for a concert. I'm sure $400 is reasonable compared to what it costs to see other artists especially in larger cities. Still, it's more money than we wanted to spend. So few jazz concerts come to St Louis anymore that we are just happy they stop here to perform so we cough up the money and go.
