I haven't read much about it, but that's the first article I've read about it that is so 'positive' that it's going to happen in that time frame. Man I PRAY they're right!!!!
Something that confused me is that they mentioned it would have a stellar magnitude of -2... near the magnitude of Polaris. But then they say it 'may' be visible in the daytime. Polaris is not visible in daylight, or even close to it. I'm assuming that they meant it could have a much brighter magnitude that -2?
Most, if not all, astronomers believe we are living in an era when a "SuperNova" could happen at any time.... based on many factors. Betelgeuse is a candidate - and should it go SuperNova it would definitely be visible in the daytime.
